Varist is rooted in Iceland and has, through continuous innovation, protected customers from malware for over 30 years.

In 2012, Commtouch (later named Cyren) acquired the Anti-Malware technology from its Icelandic founder, with operations and development remaining in Iceland.

In 2023, Varist, in partnership with OK, a leading IT service provider in Iceland, and former employees of Cyren, acquired the anti-malware business assets from Cyren. Varist is co-owned by employees who have over 250 years of combined experience in anti-malware technology and services.
